Parents, please note the following: Unless notified, all Sessions begin promptly at 9:30 am and will end at 12 noon. Parents please pick up your children on time. Students arriving after 9:45 am will not receive credit for attending that session.

 

Saturday, January 10, 2009 – Staff & Students Talent Show (Jones/Norwood)
Staff and students will share their unique talents.

Saturday, January 17, 2009 – Teen Summit/Derrick Brooks Charity (Lovett)
Students will participate in a local teen summit involving other youth in the area.

Saturday, January 24, 2009 – Youth Health Forum (Washington)
Guest speakers will address health issues facing our youth today.

Saturday, January 31, 2009 – Zora Neal Hurston Festival (Lovett)
Staff and students will attend the festival in Eatonville, Florida .

Saturday, February 7, 2009 – Black History Essay Contest (Grant)
Students will write and present essays for Black History Month.

Saturday, February 14, 2009 – Black History Presentation (Lovett)
A guest speaker will present information on Black History.

Saturday, February 21, 2009 – Black History Presentation (Fort)
A guest speaker will present information on Black History.

Saturday, February 28, 2009 – FCAT Preparation (Holley)
Students will receive instruction and sample materials to help them prepare to take the FCAT.

Saturday, March 7, 2009 – FCAT Preparation Part 2 (Holley)
Students will receive instruction and sample materials to help them prepare to take the FCAT.

Saturday, March 14, 2009 – Skating (Campbell)
Students will enjoy a trip to a local skating rink.

Saturday, March 21, 2009 – Financial Management (Holley)
Students will receive instruction on managing and saving their money.

Saturday, March 28, 2009 – Design a T-Shirt for SOC (Wilson/Jones)
Students will submit design ideas for an SOC T-Shirt.

Saturday, April 4, 2009 – Fun With Math (Grant)
Students will participate in games and activities using math skills.

Saturday, April 11, 2009 – Spring Break - No Session
Students will enjoy a trip to a local skating rink.

Saturday, April 18, 2009 – Etiquette/Manners (Washington)
Students will receive instruction on proper etiquette and manners for all settings.

Saturday, April 25, 2009 – Silent Auction/Board Games (Banks)
We will prepare for our annual Silent Auction. Students will enjoy a variety of games.

Saturday, May 2, 2009 – Speech Presentations (Campbell)
Students will present speeches they have written, based on a given topic.

Saturday, May 9, 2009 – Spelling Bee (Banks/Taylor)
Students will participate in a Spelling Bee.

Saturday, May 16, 2009 – Career Day (Banks/Taylor)
Students will visit local businesses to learn about different careers.

Saturday, May 23, 2009 – Parents and Awards Day/Last Session (Staff)
We will honor our students for their achievements throughout the year.

July 20-24, 2009 – Deacon’s Convention, Washington D.C. (Fort)
Staff and students will take our annual trip to the Deacon’s Convention.

All sessions begin promptly at 9:30 A.M. and end at 12 Noon unless notified. Parents please pick up your children on time!

Students arriving after 9:45 A.M. will not receive credit for attending that session.
